President's Report by Donna Kosiek from the 2024 Women in Finance QLD Annual General Meeting.
Dear Members,
2024 saw our community continue to grow and enjoy some wonderful connectivity in our events.
Our vision and purpose continues in advocacy to see our members inspired by one-on-one conversations through networking, as well as group presentations that celebrate and recognise the best of our sector. As we challenge ourselves to lean-forward we aspire to engage within and beyond our sector for intersectionality, and be more mindful of societal challenges and expectations including representation, pay equity, influence, safety and environmental considerations.
With this in mind our 2023-2024 year started with our first International Women’s Day event at Comuna Cantina, where we were joined by over 80 attendees in a record number such a network event.
In July we connected again to see out the End of Financial Year at the Hibiscus Bar and Terrace where we launched out new Women In Finance Qld branding including a great new media wall and other assets.
2023 saw us not pursue an “Inspire” event, where we were unable to identify the right speaker for our members. Instead we held our Educate event at the offices of our sponsors Loans.com.au.
Then we ended the year with network drinks again at City Winery in December.
The continue engagement with our community and the success of these events has seen our membership numbers significantly outgrow prior years and provided the opportunity to increase member benefits for with subsidised offerings.
Our strategic planning included improving our member service delivery by raising recognition with re-branding, improving market presence and connectivity through upgrading our web-site and its alliances, while continuing in our member profiles and member newsletters, promoting industry updates as well as member news.
We also said good-bye to some valued committee members as they pursue other endeavours, including Erin Clark, Aimee West, Michelle Kirkby and one of our most valued committee members in Marie Mortimer who we particularly acknowledge and thank while acknowledging these members contributions to our Committee. Happily we have this year also welcomed new committee members in Kat Marsalek, Louise Kelly, Sophie Spain and Brittany Graham.
We celebrate our continued community engagement of 2024 and look forward to bringing more of the same into 2025, as we continue to connect our members and beyond to network, develop and inspire each other.
Donna Kosiek
